Composition Cache
The Outline Cache
Giving every paragraph a distinct job — and checking it with a reverse outline.
Core technique
Organization is the reader's map of your thinking. Each paragraph should do a job no other paragraph does — introduce a reason, test a counterexample, weigh evidence, extend an implication — and the order should let each job build on the last. A reliable way to see your structure is a reverse outline: after drafting, write one short line naming each paragraph's job (not its topic). If two lines say the same thing, those paragraphs repeat rather than advance. If a line cannot be written, the paragraph lacks a job. If the order of lines could be shuffled with no loss, the argument is a list rather than a progression. Outlines can be built before or after drafting; what matters is that the final structure serves your claim.
